Every year, Chick-fil-A holds a special event called Cow Appreciation Day. How special is it? Free Chick-fil-A, that’s how special. But seriously, this is big fun for the whole family. I look forward to it to the point that I am actively looking out for Cow Appreciation Day (or CAD) around this time of year. Taking part is super-easy. All you have to do is dress like a cow. Well, at least be wearing something cow-ish. In fact, they have cow masks available, if you didn’t wear anything cow related. But you know we love DIY costumes, so we make cow shirts every year. Here’s our tutorial for a DIY cow costume.
Supplies
Since this is all about getting free food, it would be counterproductive to spend a bunch of money on the cow shirts, obviously. Therefore we are all about economy on CAD. We just use white t-shirts that we already own or, failing that, we turn printed t-shirts inside out so that only the white part shows. You will also need black construction paper. And tape. Tape is also a thing you will need. If you want to get really fancy, you could even make a cow ear headband as well. This will run you the cost of a headband, as well.
Instructions
We love to keep it simple, here, and it doesn’t get much simpler than this. For the shirts, cut blobby shapes out of the black paper. Then you make tape loops with the sticky side out, and stick them to your shirts. Okay. You’re done. Wasn’t that easy?
Oh, right, the headband. Cut out two ear shapes. Tape them to the band, so they will stay on. We did have some trouble last year, so you might want to fold the paper in half, and double the ears, then fold them around the band.
Food
They will give you one free entrée per person dressed as a cow. You may want to plan on buying some fries and a drink or two for the grownups. Kids will get an actual meal, so they should be set.
Happy Cow Appreciation Day! Enjoy your meal.
