It’s no secret, Fall is my favorite time of year. I love Christmastime, and the Fourth of July, among others, sure. But the whole Fall season is just my favorite. It’s not so hot, but it isn’t cold yet. The leaves are changing, lots of fun activities are starting up, it’s the greatest. And it can get busy. Sometimes, I even feel overwhelmed, which is the last thing I want to be feeling during my favorite time of year. So this year, to keep up with everything I want to do, I’m making a fall bucket list! We will be checking off each item as we complete it on Instagram, so make sure to follow. That way you can keep up right along with us. Maybe even share your own fall bucket list excursions!

My Fall Bucket List
Of course, you can adapt this to fit your own preferences, but here are a bunch of suggestions for things to do during this magical time of year.

- Visit a Pumpkin Patch- We have been visiting our favorite patch for over a decade, now. The owners know us by name. And every year, I know it’s going to be one of the best days of the year. This is a tradition that it’s never to early to get in to.
- Make Homemade Chili- Once the air gets a little chill to it, some nice hot comfort food is just the thing. Homemade chili really isn’t all that hard, either. I just might even share my secret recipe, if you’re good.
- Make Halloween Costumes- We love to put our own spin on classic costumes every time we can. It’s easier than you think. We comb thrift stores and don’t ever sew anything.

- Decorate for Fall- Duh. But you would be surprised how the days can creep by while you’re waiting to decorate. Make some fun decorations, and put this on your list to make sure you get around to it. And keep an eye out here for lots of DIYs coming up.
- Carve a Pumpkin- Again, duh. But there have been years where we wound up carving them on Halloween, because we didn’t get around to it sooner. Nowadays, we buy and carve some as soon as they are available, but we also do another round of pumpkins right before or on Halloween.
- Pumpkin Painting Contest- This one was so much fun that we’re adding it to our annual traditions. It’s easy, and even the toddler participated last year. I’ll let you guess which one was his.

- Roast Pumpkin Seeds- I have to have my roasted pumpkin seeds. We roast our own right out of the pumpkin. Pumpkins, they’re the gift that keeps on giving. Or something.
- Play in a Leaf Pile- I shouldn’t need to explain this. But you have to try it. And so do your kids.
- Make a Pumpkin Dessert- I you know me, if you have ever met me, if you have even read our blog, this should not be a surprise. We have multiple dessert ideas, (and to save you the eye-rolling, none of them use words “Pumpkin Spice.”)

- Watch Football- Jacob made me put this one in. But here’s a secret- I actually like to watch football a little bit, too. Mainly for the food, though.
- Create a Thankful Tree- This is a great family activity that your kids will ungratefully slouch through, and then you can treasure it for the rest of the season. It’s so easy, and doesn’t cost a thing.

- Create Fall Scents- You can go low end, and just buy a fall candle, or be like us and boil some stuff like orange peels and cloves on the stove. Either way, getting your house smelling right will really put you in the mood.
- Make Caramel Apple Cider- This is Jacob’s again. I’m not the hugest fan of caramel or apple cider, but he swears it was his fall ritual for years. We will see how it goes.
- Roast Smores- Of course you want to roast smores for Fall. It’s so hot during the summer, so Fall is the perfect time for being out roasting smores.
- Halloween Craft- Go find a fun Halloween craft to make. If Pinterest isn’t your thing, we have some upcoming ideas here on the blog, so keep looking.
- Visit a Park- It’s Fall, right? So you want to go see some Fall leaves. A walk in the park is a great way to do this.
- Collect Fall Foliage- While you’re out looking, be sure to pick up some pretty leaves to take home. We have a great tutorial coming up that uses these. Keep watching!
- Halloween Movie Night- Around here, Halloween movies mean either Charlie Brown or The Nightmare before Christmas. It’s the perfect way to get the whole family in the mood.

- Turkey Craft- Find yourself a fun little turkey/thanksgiving DIY craft to make. Like handprint turkeys, for example. It doesn’t have to be that big of an effort to be totally worth it.
- Go to a Trunk or Treat- Finally, what would this time of year be without candy? Boring. While we do traditional Trick or Treating, we always try to find one or two Trunk or Treats to go to as well. The kids always love it, and you get a head start on stealing their candy while they’re asleep.
