A New Kind of Diet
Diet books really aren’t my thing. Honestly, I just don’t know how I would have enough time to maintain a diet, and still keep up the energy to get through my day. Boy oh boy did this book open up my eyes on what a diet could be!
Honestly, I’ve been wanting to eat healthier for awhile, now. It’s just really hard to do. Besides just being plain difficult to plan out meals, I still need to make sure my kids get enough to eat. On top of that, I need to make sure I keep mealtime interesting, since we have a preschooler in the house, who can be extremely picky.
That’s why Always Eat After 7PM is such a godsend. It’s not about some complicated diet where you can’t eat certain foods, or certain parts of certain foods. Carbs aren’t against the law. In fact, Marion encourages carbs, if eaten at the right time. He states that “A research paper published in Sports Medicine in 2014 showed that people who eat the majority of their carbs at dinner actually sleep better. Carb-induced, quality sleep decreases cortisol (a fat-storing hormone) and ramps up the production of your sleep hormones, serotonin and melatonin. Restorative sleep increases fat-burning hormones—the main one being growth hormone—overnight.” So wait, I get to eat carbs, and sleep better? Sign me up!
After looking through the book, I began to realize something. Getting healthy isn’t really all that hard; that’s why there are a bajillion different diets out there that you can try. Staying healthy, on the other hand, can be rough. Let’s be honest, are you really gonna go the rest of your life without ever eating bread again? I know I wouldn’t make it. But this book is different. Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance. It’s not about resisting your cravings, it’s about engaging in them. Sounds great, right? Too good to be true? Well Marion relies on science, instead of popular opinions about what makes a diet work.
